Loving the Perfect Red: Cinnamon Girl by Pacifica Beauty

After years of regular salon visits, I’ve discovered something surprising – doing my own manicures brings me more joy (and better results!) than professional ones. While I still treat myself to monthly pedicures, I’ve embraced the at-home approach for my fingernails, and I couldn’t be happier with this decision.

A Chance Discovery That Changed Everything

Let me introduce you to the star of my DIY manicure journey: “Cinnamon Girl” by Pacifica Beauty.

This rich, holiday-inspired red has become my absolute favorite shade. I stumbled upon it at Sprouts some years ago, and it’s proven to be a fantastic find. What began as a casual purchase has evolved into a steadfast staple in my beauty routine.

The color itself is complex and captivating – a deep, warm red with subtle undertones that catch the light beautifully. It’s sophisticated without being stuffy, festive without being garish, and somehow manages to complement every outfit and occasion I throw at it.

Performance That Rivals the Pros

When paired with Pacifica’s top coat, this polish stays chip-free for over a week – a durability that rivals salon manicures. I’ve actually found myself checking my nails on day five, surprised to find them still perfectly intact without a chip in sight.

The application experience is equally impressive. The brush design allows for precise control, making it easy to achieve that perfect cuticle line even for someone like me who doesn’t have the steadiest hands. The formula strikes the perfect balance – not too thick, not too runny – and typically only requires two coats for full, even coverage.

Beauty Without Compromise

What makes this polish even more special is its clean formula.

Pacifica Beauty’s commitment to non-toxic ingredients means their polishes are free of harmful chemicals like toluene and formaldehyde. Not only does this make my at-home manicure sessions safer, but it also means no more exposure to those strong chemical fumes you typically encounter at salons.

As someone who used to get headaches after salon visits, this benefit alone has been transformative. My manicure routine has shifted from something I endured for the end result to an enjoyable self-care ritual I actually look forward to.

Breaking the Beauty Rules

Yes, I’m wearing a holiday red in spring, but who says we need to follow seasonal rules?

Sometimes you just need that perfect shade of red, regardless of the calendar. There’s something empowering about reaching for exactly what makes you happy, ignoring arbitrary beauty conventions. That confidence-boosting pop of red on my fingertips brightens even the dreariest spring day and lifts my mood instantly.

My Simple DIY Manicure Routine

If you’re curious about embracing at-home manicures, here’s my streamlined approach:

  • Remove old polish and gently push back cuticles after showering
  • Shape nails with a glass file (game-changer for preventing splits!)
  • Apply a thin base coat
  • Two coats of Cinnamon Girl, allowing drying time between applications
  • Seal with Pacifica’s glossy top coat
  • Finish with cuticle oil for hydration

The entire process takes less than 30 minutes, costs a fraction of salon prices, and delivers results that consistently earn compliments.

Finding Your Perfect Red

I’d love to hear about your favorite non-toxic red polish – which shade has captured your heart? Are you team salon-only, or have you discovered the joys of DIY manicures too?

Yes yes to all the above. I watch Netflix guilt free whilst doing my manis and pedis. It may be my control issues BUT mine always turn out better 😁 AND saving money feels amazing AND I get to choose my own polish brand (love Pacifica, but the cinnamon would be way too bright for my skin!) I just need to start doing paraffin on my own callused, ok andpaper, beat-up-from-what-I-do hands. (I’ve paid $5 for one that’s coconut oil but don’t do it regularly and never do it myself) Any DIY suggestions? Can I use household items I already have?
